Norfolk Record Office
Learning for all

Home page

The Archive Education and Outreach Service aims to make the documents in the Norfolk Record Office accessible to all ages, though a variety of means. We work closely with both schools and groups of adults and these pages give more detail on what we can offer. If you are looking for opportunities for individuals - for children or adults - please go to our events page.

Schools

Newsletter

It’s about time, our newsletter for schools goes out once a term. There are three editions: primary, secondary and colleges. The newsletter provides information about what we are offering schools and brings you up to date on recent developments. The current and past editions are available on the newsletter page.

Primary and Secondary

Workshops

We currently have a small number of workshops for both primary and secondary pupils. These can take place both inside and outside the classroom. For further details please visit the workshops pages.

Resources

We provide resources to enable schools to include local material in their lessons. These are available in two formats. Resource packs, including Study Unit packs and Local History packs, contain laminated copies of our documents, and are available for a range of topics. More details can be found on our resource packs page.  We also have packs which can be downloaded from the website, on our downloadable resources page.

School projects

We have worked on a number of projects with schools over the past eight years. We hope that by providing a selection of these, teachers and staff will get a better understanding of what we could offer your school. For more details please see the School projects page.

Working group

We have a dedicated working group of teachers, who meet once a term to offer suggestions and provide advice on our service to schools. If you would like to be involved in this group please see the working group page.

Sixth forms and colleges

Study Sessions

We are able to arrange study sessions for sixth forms and colleges at The Archive Centre. Information about these can be found on our study session page.

Groups

Talks

We are able to provide a range of talks to groups both inside and outside The Archive Centre. For a list of talks and more details please consult our talks page.

Group visits and tours

We arrange visits and tours of the record office for groups wishing to get an insight into the work we do, and how to use the centre. For more information please look at the Group visits and tours page.

Adult projects

Occasionally we can provide other events and projects for groups. These include special sessions on how to use the searchroom. For information about some of our past projects please look at the adult projects page.

Adult group at the NRO

The NRO is continuing to provide access to both children and adults alike and we hope to be adding to our service in the future. If you have any suggestions on how we can help you, please let us know by contacting the Archive Education and Outreach Officer.
