We have an experienced research team who can offer a variety of expert assistance.
Please be concise and specific, whatever your request.
Our team will contact you with an estimate of the time required to carry out your search. We aim to do this within three working days. Once agreed, we hope to complete the research within 10 working days.
We will respond by letter, although this can be sent as an email attachment if you prefer. This letter will give full details of which records have been searched and the results found.
Entries from parish registers, etc, will be transcribed. Copies of any associated documents will be sent to you by post or email if you have requested them.
Our minimum fee is currently £35 including VAT for up to 20 minutes searching and a written report. Longer searches and reports will be charged at £54 per hour including VAT. If you are a customer outside the European Union and you require information about non-VAT prices please contact us.
Advance payment is not required. We will notify you of the charge when the results are sent.
Please wait for the invoice to arrive separately before making payment.
Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to Norfolk County Council.
You can also make a credit/debit payment card by telephone. Full details are given on the invoice.
Are there any searches you cannot undertake?
We may suggest you employ a private record searcher if your inquiry is particularly complex or lengthy. They will be able to spend the necessary time on it.
Yes. We offer a transcription and translation service for a fee. Our current charge is £54 per hour including VAT (minimum charge) or £325 per day including VAT. However, if staff are busy with other matters or the translation required is very lengthy, we may suggest you employ a private translator.
