Norfolk Record Office (NRO) research blogger at King's Lynn Borough Archives (KLBA)
Time
Flexible.
Purpose
To carry out research for the NRO blog and submit at least one post per year.
Length of volunteering opportunity
One year from the signing of volunteer agreement.
Duties
- To search the NRO's catalogues for suitable documents to use.
- To identify documents, and the human stories in them, which will interest members of the public reading the blogs.
- To write up research findings into posts which are interesting and engaging.
- To take digital photographs to illustrate text.
- To submit posts via email.
- Ensure that you don't include content from another source
Skills/experience/ personal qualities
- Competent IT skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability, or willingness to learn, a variety of writing styles.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely in a lively and engaging way.
Training we will provide
- Introduction to the Norfolk Record Office searchroom.
- Carrying out research.
- How to write a blog post
Health and Safety within the role
Your supervisor will tell you about basic health and safety awareness during your induction. They will make you aware of any health and safety responsibilities within the building in which you will be volunteering.

Review date
A review will take place once the volunteer has completed their first post.

Volunteers contributing to this project will need:
- An Archives Card
- Laptop or access to a computer at home.
- Access to e-mails or the internet (to submit work).
- Use of a digital camera (this could be a mobile phone).
