Quarter sessions

From Tudor times until 1889, Norfolk was administered by the justices of the peace (or magistrates) through the system of quarter, general, special and petty sessions.

The records of the quarter sessions are prefixed C/S.

For more about the history of the quarter sessions as an administrative body in Norfolk, see our separate guide.
