Opening times

From 15 September, the Norfolk Record Office will re-open and its searchroom will be open from Tuesday to Friday.

To ensure that the service is safe to use, we will only be able to provide a limited service for six people per session based on advance booking of places and original documents. Microforms, paper catalogues, IT and reference books will not be available.

We will continue to review the arrangements and look at ways of expanding the service as soon as it is safe to do so.

You can book for a morning or afternoon session. The morning session will run from 10am-12.30pm (please ensure you arrive by 10.30am) and the afternoon session will be from 2-4.30pm (please ensure you arrive by 2.30pm).

What you can still do

Staff from all three bases are working remotely and are doing their best to process requests for copies of birth, death and marriage certificates and other queries that they can deal with over email/online via norfrec@norfolk.gov.uk.

Please note, staff can only deal with enquiries requiring access to documents that cannot be dealt with online where there is a pressing, urgent need, such as a document required as legal evidence in court.

Remember, you can still do a lot of research online – we have plenty of links to resources listed on our website. Please email norfrec@norfolk.gov.uk if you need help to support you with this.
