Unlocking Our Sound Heritage

We are the hub for the East of England in a project to digitise and make available archive sound recordings which are at risk.

Unlocking Our Sound Archive (UOSH) is a project led by the British Library and supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

It will digitally preserve almost 500,000 endangered sound recordings from across the UK and make 100,000 available online. This will also help to promote sound archive collections.

We will digitise 5,000 sound items over the next three years, from our own collections at the Norfolk Record Office and from other collections in the East of England.

The digitised material will then be used for learning and outreach activities.

We are one of 10 UOSH hubs. The others are in Aberystwyth, Belfast, Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow, London, Leicester, Manchester and Newcastle.

Sign up to receive UOSH in the East's email newsletter to get updates about our involvement in this project, including volunteer opportunities.

Your details will not be passed to any of our project partners without your permission.
